Raptors Stop Pacers’ Streak

 

Eastern Conference leaders Indiana Pacers were beaten 95-82 by Toronto Raptors on Wednesday evening at the Air Canada Centre.

DeMar DeRozan starred for the hosts as he scored 26 points in their victory which continues their run of four consecutive wins to help them remain top of the Atlantic division. They are now second favourites with Betfair for the division behind Brooklyn Nets.

CARTER SAYS HE'D BE OPEN TO REJOINING RAPTORS AT SOME POINT

Former Toronto Raptor and current Dallas Maverick Vince Carter was on TSN Radio 1050 on Tuesday, and revealed that he would be more than open to a reunion with the Raptors at some point in his career.

"If (Toronto) gave me the opportunity, I don’t even think I’d let them finish the question. Yes. I’m in," Carter said, speaking on Cybulski and Company.

"Could I see it? Absolutely," Carter continued. "I’d leave that up to the franchise. It all started in Toronto, I’d be a fool to ever forget that."

Raptors coach Casey completes staff

New Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey has completed the bulk of his
coaching staff, with former Raptors assistant and 76ers and Magic head
coach Johnny Davis agreeing to join his staff as lead assistant coach.

Davis coached Allen Iverson in his rookie season in Philadelphia, but
was fired after one season. He spent parts of two seasons as Orlando’s
head coach, and was interim head coach in Memphis after Marc Iavaroni
was fired two years ago, before the Grizzlies named Lionel Hollins head
coach. Davis, a former teammate of Hollins’ on Portland’s world

Report: Raptors want Casey

It appears the Raptors want Dallas assistant Dwane Casey to become the eighth head coach in team history.

But he won’t come easily after his defensive schemes helped lead the Mavericks to the title on Sunday.

The Detroit Pistons and wealthy new owner Tom Gores are also interested
in Casey and money is likely to be no object if they decide Casey is
their guy.

Barbosa considering Brazilian options

The Toronto Raptors may get an unexpected break as they try to remake their team in the wake of a 22-60 season.

Brazilian veteran Leandro Barbosa is considering opting out of the final
year of a contract scheduled to pay him $7.6-million for 2011-12.

According to his brother Arturo, the shooting guard is receiving feelers
from some top club teams at home who want to bring back the top
Brazilian player of his generation.

Frank or Casey next Raptors coach?

Raptors president/general manager Bryan Colangelo would not comment
Thursday on a report he has narrowed the team’s coaching search down to
Boston’s Lawrence Frank and Dwane Casey of the Mavericks.

With good reason, it seems. Late in the day, a new wrinkle came about
when ESPN reported Oklahoma City assistant Mo Cheeks was also in the
mix.
