Some very interesting comments by former Charlotte Bobcat Raja Bell
about how he feels manipulated by his former team, in regard to the
left wrist injury he suffered in the preseason.

"I felt like I was used a little bit,” Bell told the Contra Costa Times. "They played on the fact that I want to play and want to please, and they played on that and, uh, it cost me my season.”

Bell wanted to have arthroscopic surgery, to explore the extent of damage to his left wrist, following a preseason injury. He says he was talked out of that. Bell was trying to tough it out, to help the Bobcats reach the playoffs.

Eventually, following the trade to the Warriors (a deal that acquired Stephen Jackson), Bell did have surgery on what was, in fact, a torn ligament.

"At the end of the day, every decision is the player’s,” Bell continued. "They can’t make you play. But let’s just say there were none-too-subtle hints.that I needed to be playing and that I really needed to help the team by playing.”

I understand Bell’s frustration. He thought he was risking his body because he was so crucial to the Bobcats’ playoff chances, and then they ship him to a bad team to acquire Jackson.

I also know Bell was frustrated by the timing of that trade; He wishes, if he was going to be viewed as an expiring contract, that the Bobcats had dealt him over the summer, before he moved his wife and young family back to Charlotte.

Allen Iverson could change that. Pair the polarizing guard with coach
Larry Brown again and they wouldn’t just be talking about games in
Charlotte, they’d be talking about practice, too.Whether Iverson is reunited with his former adversary-turned-buddy Brown is Charlotte’s most intriguing storyline as the NBA’s free agency period opens Wednesday.

Iverson is a 34-year-old free agent, far removed from his NBA MVP days and certainly about to be paid much less than the nearly $22 million he made last season, when he was traded from Denver to Detroit.

Seven years after Iverson’s famous "We’re talking about practice!" rant directed at Brown when they were in Philadelphia, the two have made up. Iverson was spotted in Charlotte in May, when Brown said he’d have no problems coaching him again and Iverson’s agent indicated his client would be open to playing for the Bobcats.

Leon Rose declined further comment on Tuesday, but he’s expected to talk to the Bobcats as the free agency negotiating period starts Wednesday.

"Even though there are things that went on during our careers, the work he did was phenomenal," Brown said recently. "He wants to win, he competes every night, he plays hurt."

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that Sean May is not
playing many minutes and that “It seems unlikely the Bobcats would make a $3.6
million qualifying offer to restrict his free agency” this summer.

It is also reported that “That will take care of itself,” May said, “at the
end of the season.”

Monday was just his fourth appearance in the past 44 games. Being a starter
in the season opener and being voted Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four
in 2005 both seem ancient history.”

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that the Bobcats would
love to dump Nazr Mohammed and his 13 million dollar contract who has only played
in four games this season.

It is noted that one of the problems in moving Nazr Mohammed
is that they will likely have to take on another sizable contract which is something
that they do not want to do considering the fact that the salary caps is most
likely going to shrink next season.
