After sitting out the Milwaukee Bucks’ first three exhibition games with
soreness and swelling in his surgically repaired right hand, center
Andrew Bogut is dealing with his physical situation.

"I might not be 100% the whole year," said Bogut.

Bogut, a third-team all-NBA selection last season, suffered injuries to
his right hand, wrist and elbow in a gruesome fall on April 3. He sat
out the three exhibition contests after getting hit on the hand in
practice on Oct. 1.

With the start of the regular season a little over two weeks away, a general sense of urgency is starting to build as far as getting the entire team healthy. But Bogut is the biggest concern, since so much revolves around him.

The Bucks will have three more days of practice before playing three exhibition games in four nights beginning Thursday in Washington, and Bogut remains unsure when he will practice, as he waits for the swelling to go down.

"I’m just trying to be a little careful before the real season starts," he said. "I’d like to start practicing probably this week, but I think it’ll probably be another . . . they said it would be about seven to 10 days from when it first happened.

"The elbow, finger, everything . . . I won’t be 100%, so I’ll have to play through the pain through the season. Even once it gets better, I’m still going to be 90% for the year or 85%.

"I don’t have my mobility and flexibility like I should, but I just have to adjust to it."

Bogut was asked if that would make him apprehensive about getting hit when he does play.

"I hope not," he said.

Bogut joined John Salmons (right knee), Corey Maggette (left ankle), Carlos Delfino (right big toe) and Jon Brockman (left ankle) as players who did not play in Saturday’s game against Charlotte in Green Bay.

Brockman had been filling in for Bogut as the starting center but sprained his ankle on Friday in Detroit.

Coach Scott Skiles has been patient with the the rash of injuries now, but with the clock ticking down toward opening night, he is expressing a desire to get his players on the court, so the Bucks can see what kind of team they actually have.

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/bucks/104686539.html

Marc Stein – ESPN.com

The Milwaukee Bucks will sign veteran guard Jerry Stackhouse to a
contract for the rest of the season, according to NBA front-office
sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Stackhouse is expected to formally sign with
the Bucks on Monday or possibly Tuesday after the Martin Luther King
Jr. holiday.

The former All-Star guard has been looking for a new team since the summer and was targeted by the Bucks — who began play Sunday two games out of the final playoff spot in the East — after Michael Redd suffered a season-ending knee injury this past Sunday in Los Angeles against the Lakers.

Foot and knee problems limited Stackhouse to just 10 games last season with Dallas, but the 35-year-old has insisted for months that he is healthy and ready to return to the league.

After an audition for the New York Knicks in August, Stackhouse rejected an invitation to Houston Rockets training camp in October to replace the injured Rashad McCants when the Rockets told Stackhouse he’d have to win a roster spot in camp to stick.

Stackhouse has a lifetime scoring average of 18.4 points per game and has made two trips to the All-Star Game in a 14-season career with four teams. He became an unrestricted free agent in July after the Memphis Grizzlies bought out the final year of his contract for $2 million after Stackhouse was included in the four-team trade headlined by Dallas’ acquisition of Shawn Marion and Toronto’s sign-and-trade acquisition of Hedo Turkoglu.

"The NBA has a propensity to move teams," Bradley Center
board Chairman Ulice Payne told me this week. "What does that mean for us?
From the Bucks’ perspective, it’s probably not a clear path for them, either.
But we look at it from a building perspective that eventually our building will
be replaced. It’s not our business to make the decision on how it’s resolved,
but it is our business to tell the public about what’s happening here.

"Don’t count on us to save the Milwaukee Bucks. There’s an unspoken
thing that somehow the building is great and the Bucks are going to be here
forever. And I hope that they are. But I know, too, that you can’t count on the
Bradley Center saving the Milwaukee Bucks."

Redd is out for the season with a knee injury and it is
noted that the team is on the hook for 35 million dollars over the next two
seasons. As a result of his injury and the amount of payroll that is do to him
it is noted that Redd is basically untradeable and this injury may force the Bucks
owner to sell the franchise.
