Caron Butler’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors for almost a
year, and the talk has only intensified with the Feb. 18 trade deadline
less than two weeks away. He’s been rumored to be headed to Dallas, to
Houston, to the Los Angeles Clippers, to New Jersey, to Portland, to

Following another disheartening loss on Tuesday night, 115-103 to the
NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers at Verizon Center, Washington Wizards
forward Antawn Jamison answered every question about the team’s
failings with his usual candor.
Gilbert Arenas’s guilty plea on Friday to felony possession of a
firearm has left the franchise in flux between now and his sentencing
on March 26. The Washington Wizards will probably look like a
completely different team, with President Ernie Grunfeld still moving
forward with his plans to make some moves before the Feb. 18 trade
deadline. The only problem is that Grunfeld has received terrible
offers from other teams hoping to raid the coffers for a pittance. So
he could hold on for a while to see how the team plays with Mike Miller
It is open season on some Washington Wizards right now — Gilbert Arenas for critics and Antawn Jamison for trade speculation.
Back in 2007 when the Wizards played the Cavs in the first round of the
playoffs and Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler were injured, Jamison was
a complete warrior. The Wizards had no chance in the series and the
Cavs were loading up on Jamison. But he came to play every game like it

sweep and single-handedly made three of the games competitive.
Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, under investigation for having

In the midst of increasing adversity both on and off the court for the
Washington Wizards, small forward Caron Butler has been inspired,
playing some of his best and most aggressive basketball of the season
after getting called out last week by head coach Flip Saunders.
"In times right now, you need good, positive news coming out of here so
that’s what I’m trying to do, trying to do something special and
extraordinary in every practice," said Butler, who continues to be the
subject of trade rumors.
With the Washington Wizards mired in their second six-game losing
streak of the season as owners of a 7-16 record, a $79.18 million
payroll and with roughly an $8 million luxury tax bill on the way, the
rumors have begun to fly.
I wanted to address the Mike James to Miami rumor that ESPN.com’s Marc
Stein circulated on Wednesday afternoon. I mentioned it on my Twitter
account last night, but there is nothing moving right now with regards
to any James trade, based on conversations that I’ve had with a few
people who would know.
