Davis out another week
Hornets coach says Davis will definately not play in the next four games.Hornets guard Baron Davis’ bruised right ankle will keep him sidelined for another week despite results from an MRI test performed Tuesday that revealed no further damage.
“He said he can’t jump off it yet, and I would say the next four games are a no,” Coach Byron Scott said.
Scott is not expecting Davis to return until possibly Feb. 2 against the Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Arena. Davis has been sidelined for five consecutive games after getting kicked in his right ankle Jan. 16 against the Toronto Raptors.
“I thought by the Indiana (Jan. 19) or the Clippers game (Jan. 22) he would be back,” Scott said. “So it’s a lot longer than I thought. He said his treatments are going well and he feels better, but it’s going to take about a week.”
Dan Dickau has done a good job filling in for Davis.
Dickau has scored 13 or more points in 16 of the past 29 games. Scott also plans to give Casey Jacobsen, acquired last week in a trade with the Phoenix Suns, some playing time as the backup point guard.
“I think Casey proved in Miami (Sunday) that he can definitely be a backup point guard with no problem,” Scott said. “He’s smart enough and can handle the ball well enough.”
